Understanding Low Back Pain

Low back pain shows up in many ways. It can be a nagging ache after a long day of sitting, a sharp flare when you deadlift, or a stiffness that makes your first steps painful on a trail run. You’re not alone — and you don’t have to stop doing what you love.

At Conquer Physical Therapy we focus on finding what’s driving your pain, not just masking symptoms. That means a clear plan built around strengthening weak links, improving movement, and letting you modify — not quit — while you recover.

Common Symptoms

  • Dull or sharp pain in the lower back.
  • Stiffness that eases with movement or gets worse after sitting.
  • Pain that flares with bending, lifting, twisting, or certain exercises.
  • Pain that spreads to the buttock, hip, or down the leg (sciatic-type symptoms).
  • Difficulty with heavy lifts, single-leg moves, squats, or returning to sport.

Common Causes

  • Muscle weakness or poor control around the hips, core, and pelvis.
  • Repetitive strain, sudden overload, or improper lifting mechanics.
  • Prolonged sitting and poor posture leading to stiffness and deconditioning.
  • Movement patterns that overload the lumbar spine during running, lifting, or sports.
  • Prior injury, imbalanced training, or inadequate recovery.

How We Treat Low Back Pain

We use a 3-phase, strength-based roadmap delivered in 60-minute 1:1 visits to remove roadblocks, restore capacity, and get you back to full activity while you keep training.

01

Comprehensive 60‑minute evaluation

You get a full movement and strength assessment with Dr. Sujaya Deodhar, DPT. We identify the specific drivers of your pain — mobility limits, weak links, or movement flaws — and map the problem to your sport or activity (trail run, deadlift, pickleball, dance).

02

Phase 1 — Reduce flare, maintain activity

Immediate tools to control pain and swelling. Hands-on care, targeted education, and short-term modifications so you can keep training without making things worse. Dry needling or manual techniques are used when appropriate to reduce barriers to movement.

03

Phase 2 — Build strength and movement control

Progressive strength and motor-control work focused on the hips, core, and posterior chain. We replace generic stretch sheets with sport-specific drills and lifts that translate to your goals — running farther, lifting heavier, or dancing with confidence.

04

Phase 3 — Return, bulletproof, and prevent recurrence

Load management, return-to-sport progressions, and personalized strategies to prevent future flares. You leave with a clear plan and milestones so you can push toward a marathon, summit, or competition without guessing.

05

Ongoing coaching and accountability

Care built around your goals, your movement, and your next milestone.

What to Expect

  1. 1First visit: a full 60‑minute evaluation. We watch how you move, test strength and mobility, and ask about training, past injuries, and goals.
  2. 2You’ll get an explanation of what’s driving your pain and a practical plan. Expect hands-on treatment, corrective exercises, and clear next steps — not a generic sheet.
  3. 3Ongoing visits focus on progressive strengthening, movement retraining, and sport-specific return-to-activity work. We prioritize keeping you active with safe modifications.
  4. 4Each phase has milestones. We track progress with objective measures so you know when to load up, when to back off, and how to prevent flare-ups in the future.

Why Conquer PT

Frequently Asked Questions

Will physical therapy fix my low back pain?

We can’t promise a specific outcome, but our approach finds and addresses the drivers of your pain. That usually means less guessing, fewer flares, and a clear plan to get back to activity.

Can I keep running or lifting during treatment?

Yes. Our ‘modify, don’t stop’ approach gives you safe alternatives and load management so you can keep training while we rebuild strength and control.

How do I get started?

Personalized, one-to-one care with a clear roadmap for progress.

How long are sessions and who treats me?

All visits are 60 minutes and delivered 1:1 by Dr. Sujaya Deodhar, DPT. You won’t be passed to an aide or given a generic exercise sheet.

Do you use dry needling or manual therapy?

When appropriate, we use dry needling, manual techniques, and hands‑on care to remove barriers to movement — always paired with active rehab and strength work.

When should I see a doctor instead of PT?

If you have numbness, progressive weakness, bowel or bladder changes, or recent major trauma, seek medical attention promptly. For most other low back pain, a professional PT evaluation is a good next step.
